eCommerce Information Centre
Victorian Government website designed to assist businesses to understand the possible applications of e-commerce, explain the benefits and risks, list steps for getting a business on the web, and provide tips for a successful e-commerce implementation.
Multimedia Victoria
Victorian Government agency that works with other government bodies and the private sector to implement the State's new technology policies. Site contains extensive information and publications about policies and activities.
The Victorian Privacy Commissioner
Also known as Privacy Victoria, this office regulates the collection and handling of personal information by the Victorian public sector. The site provides information and resources on privacy issues.

Attorney-General's e-commerce homepage
The Attorney General's Information Economy section gives legal and policy advice to the Attorney-General and Commonwealth Government on a range of electronic commerce issues. The site contains information and publications covering such matters as Australia's regulatory framework for electronic transactions.
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
ACCC is the national administrator of the Trade Practices Act. The ACCC focuses on anti-competitive and unfair market practices, mergers and acquisitions of companies, product safety/liability, and third party access to facilities of national significance. The e-commerce section of the site includes advice to consumers and businesses on safe online behaviour.

The Australian Privacy Commissioner
The APC is the national body responsible for enforcing the Privacy Act 1988, which covers Commonwealth Government agencies and the private sector. This site provides information on Internet privacy issues.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
ASIC is the national regulator of securities, futures markets and financial services in Australia. It also has a consumer watch site known as FIDO that contains information and alerts about investment scams and fraud, including web-delivered schemes.

An organisation specialising in media and communications law and policy that has a key interest in how they are being developed and adapted for the internet.

The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission
The Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission has prepared a report on the access to electronic commerce and new service and information technologies for older Australians and people with a disability.
National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE)
NOIE is Australia's lead agency for information economy issues (e-commerce, online services and the internet) and has information on a range of policies and projects.

OGO is the Office responsible for coordinating the whole-of-government strategic approach to online service delivery.

Source of information and advice on avoiding all scams, including those perpetrated online. It contains information about e-scams such as modem-jacking, spam offers and online auction scams.
Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman
Independent non-government body established by the Commonwealth government to resolve disputes between telecommunications companies and residential and small business customers. Its jurisdiction also includes complaints about Internet service providers (ISPs).
