To apply to register a Business Name online, simply complete the Business Name Application - Assessment Details and pay the fee with your credit card.

If the name you have chosen passes the automated assessment your application will proceed to the final acceptance determination stage. Upon final acceptance a Certificate of Registration is issued and mailed usually the next day. If it fails, for example because it is too similar to a name already registered, you can try another name. If the system still can't decide, you have the option of:

• trying another name, or
• referring your application to a CAV staff member for assessment.

If you request an assessment, CAV will either:

• advise you by letter of your options if we cannot pass the name you have requested, or
• send your Certificate of Registration.
