Whether leasing out a premises, or renting through an agent, it is important to be aware of the various regulations and issues that face both landlord and tenant.

Lease agreements
Covers the legal contract between the tenant and landlord or agent, including the amount of rent to be paid, the method of payment, length of renting time, security bond amount and other conditions and rules.
Managing rental bonds
When renting a property, the landlord may request a bond from the tenant, before moving in. This is a refundable amount of money, and there are rules about how much it should be, who it is paid to and how to retrieve it.
Rights and Obligations
There are rules and regulations that apply to both tenant and landlord, such as privacy issues, fines, charges and deposits, the bond, condition reports, meter readings, entry to the premises, rent increases, ending a tenancy and claiming compensation.
