Consumer Choices = Environmental Impacts
Many things impact negatively on our environment but the good news is that as responsible consumers, we can make a difference.
What can you do?
We can all make simple changes as individuals which lead to real improvements if practised across neighbourhoods and communities, for example:
- purchasing green energy
- installing energy efficient appliances
- limiting the length of our showers.
The environment is not the only thing which benefits from these changes - they often save you money too!
What are we doing?
Consumer Affairs Victoria is working closely with other organisations to develop projects and products to help consumers on the road to sustainability, for example:
- Working with Sustainability Victoria on projects designed to assist renters, landlords and those in vulnerable communities to become more sustainable.
- Supporting innovative research with RMIT into the barriers to energy efficiency in the home.
We are focussed on helping consumers become more sustainable.
