If your business is no longer trading or you do not need your business name, you must lodge a cancellation form with Consumer Affairs Victoria straight away.
You must stop using the business name immediately after lodging the cancellation.
There is no fee for cancelling a business name registration. However, once a business name is registered you cannot change it without cancelling it, making another application and paying another fee.
Please note: We will not accept any business name cancellations online or by post or fax after Tuesday 22 May 2012, or in person after 25 May 2012. You will be able to cancel your business name on the ASIC website from 28 May 2012. For more information, view our Transition to national business names register page.
