Generally, you are entitled to a refund or replacement if a product does not do what the salesperson told you it would do, providing:
- the problem is major, and
- you relied on the salesperson’s advice when deciding to buy the product.
Example:
Sam buys a watch, which the salesperson says will be suitable for diving. A couple of weeks later, he goes for a dive wearing his new watch and it fills up with water. Sam would not have bought the watch if he could not wear it diving. The watch does not do what the salesperson said it would, so Sam has the right to return it and get a refund.
