Update registration details – second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers

Important: Second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers must keep the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) up to date with their registration details. Notify us within 14 days of all changes listed below.

You can update details at any time. You may need to use myCAV or the second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers - change of details online form. Please read below for how to make changes.

Changes you can make using myCAV

Individual second-hand dealer registration

Log in to myCAV to or update:

  • personal name
  • residential, postal or email address
  • contact phone number
  • ABN
  • business name (commencing or ceasing)
  • business website

Company second-hand dealer registration

Log in to myCAV to or update:

  • Company name
  • ABN
  • director appointed or ceasing
  • secretary appointed or ceasing
  • business name (commencing or ceasing)
  • business website
  • registered or postal address

Note: An existing director can update their personal and contact information in their own myCAV account.

Changes you can make using second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers - change of details online form

All registration holders must use the second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers - change of details online form to notify us of the following:

  • business address (including telephone numbers)
  • type of goods traded
  • application for endorsement of registration as a pawnbroker
  • surrender of registration and/or endorsement
  • start or cease business as a sole trader

You must also notify us of changes to associates (individual or organisation). Use the second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers - change of details online form to notify us if associates:

  • are added
  • cease
  • change their details.

Associates include

  • business arrangement
  •  company shareholder
  • business partnership arrangement
  • personal associates (domestic partner or spouse).

Changes that mean you must apply for a new registration

You must apply for a new second-hand dealer registration if:

  • you restructure your business (for example, you switch from being an individual to a company)
  • change company names and become a new corporate entity

Notifying the BLA of disqualifications

You must also notify the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) in writing immediately if the registrant, any director, associate or associate of a director, becomes disqualified. View Disqualification and permission - second-hand dealers and pawnbrokers page.

It is an offence under the Second-Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1989 to provide the BLA with false or misleading information or documents.
