The Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA) will SMS tenants when:
- it creates a retained repayment
- it rejects a:
- repayment claim
- tenant transfer
- retained repayment request
- replacement repayment request (e.g. stop cheque authority)
- an electronic transaction is triggered by the agent and the tenant's mobile phone number is provided in the proposed transaction.
The RTBA will also send an SMS to a landlord to advise them of their obligations to lodge bonds with the RTBA.
The RTBA will SMS the most recent mobile phone number provided for the tenant.
A sample SMS: 'The Residential Tenancies Bond Authority could not process a repayment claim on your bond. For further details contact your agent/landlord who has received a notice.'
