Consumer Affairs Victoria is taking criminal action against Alaa Adib, 36, of Altona North, for alleged breaches of Victoria’s motor car trader laws.
We allege that between January 2017 and July 2018, Mr Adib:
- ran a car trading business without a motor car trader’s licence
- on-sold 67 cars he had bought at an auction house.
We began investigating Mr Adib following a consumer complaint.
The matter will be heard at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
If you are buying a car, we strongly recommend you do so through a licensed motor car trader. Doing so gives you more legal protection. For more, see our Cars section.
Generally, someone who deals in four or more cars per year needs a licence. For more, see Apply for a motor car trader’s licence.
