An Altona North car dealer has been convicted and fined $1000 for advertising cars for sale online without disclosing that he is a licensed motor car trader.
Ezzat Taleb, 44, pleaded guilty in Sunshine Magistrates’ Court to one charge of breaching the Fair Trading Act 1999.
Mr Taleb, a licensed motor car trader who trades as Taleb Car Sales, admitted to making misleading representations by advertising in the private sellers section of carsales.com.au.
Mr Taleb offered 23 cars for sale between January 2009 and February 2010 on the website.
Victorian law requires licensed motor car traders to disclose their details and licence number in advertising.
