The sole director of Windsor shop Bong-O-Mania has been fined $1500 over the seizure of 122 ice pipes.

John Richard Edwards pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates Court on 17 April 2011 to supplying the ice pipes, which were the subject of a permanent ban order, at his Chapel Street store until 1 January 2011. From 1 January 2011 it became an offence under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981, to sell or supply ice pipes.

The items, which are designed for smoking the illegal drug methamphetamine, were seized by Consumer Affairs Victoria inspectors, assisted by Victoria Police, in July last year.

Mr Edwards and his company, Highwired Pty Ltd, were convicted of supplying the illegal smoking implements and fined $1500 each.

The court also ordered the destruction of the ice pipes.
