The director of a former licensed Moorabbin prestige car dealership has pleaded guilty to eight charges of offering to sell motor vehicles on consignment.
Maurizio Duchini, also known as Maurice Duchini, is the sole director of Eastwood (Aust) Pty Ltd (ACN 106221274). The company previously held a motor car trader's licence and traded as Brent’s Prestige World.
Consignment selling is prohibited under the Motor Car Traders Act 1986. This includes offering to sell or selling a car as an agent for a person who is not a licensed motor car trader.
Consumer Affairs Victoria officers identified breaches of the Act during an inspection at the company's premises on 12 December 2013.
Eastwood’s motor car trader's licence was suspended by the Director of Consumer Affairs on 26 February 2014. The licence was automatically cancelled by the Business Licensing Authority when the company went into external administration in April 2014.
On 4 December 2014, Mr Duchini, as the sole company officer, pleaded guilty to knowingly permitting the company to offer to sell eight vehicles on consignment.
Moorabbin Magistrates' Court released Mr Duchini in relation to the charges against him on an undertaking to be of good behaviour until 1 June 2016 and ordered him to pay $1,000 in costs.
