A Geelong man has been fined $3000 for advertising more than 10 motor vehicles online without being a licensed motor car trader.

Philip Stefano, 38, of Highton, pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court to breaching the Motor Car Traders Act 1986. No conviction was recorded and he was ordered to pay $800 legal costs.

Mr Stefano used constructionsales.com.au and tradingpost.com.au to offer 11 light commercial vehicles and cars for sale between June and August this year.

Anyone who offers to buy, sell or exchange four or more cars in 12 months is seen to be acting as a motor car trader and must be licensed.
