An unlicensed motor car trader has been fined after being convicted of offering to sell nine cars while unlicensed and one count of odometer tampering.

Mr Rageed Butris, 30, of Deer Park, was convicted of one count of contravening the Motor Car Traders Act 1986 by offering to sell the cars between September 2010 and May 2011 without holding a motor car trader’s licence at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Butris was also convicted of odometer tampering in relation to one motor car.

The court fined him $8000, to be paid to the Motor Car Traders’ Guarantee Fund, and ordered that he pay court costs of $628.25.
