A trader has admitted to breaches of the Fair Trading Act 1999 through the sale of unsafe goods.
Wen Hui Xu, also known as William Xu, appeared in Moorabbin Magistrate’s Court on March 18 facing five charges over the sale of hot water bottles, puffer balls (Yo-Yo balls), animal bumper cars and a military play set, in breach of safety standards and ban orders.
Mr Xu pleaded guilty to the charges. His case was adjourned without conviction upon him entered into a 12 month good behaviour bond .
The court ordered Mr Xu to donate $200 to the Royal Children’s Hospital within two months and to publish a warning notice in a daily newspaper within seven days.
Mr Xu was also ordered to give a refund to any retailer who had provided a refund to consumers returning the prohibited goods.
