Note: Applications for registration with the BLA will open on 1 July 2021 and will be made via our myCAV online system. For more information, view About myCAV.
What do I need to do to apply for registration?
The first step in applying for registration as a professional engineer is to have your qualifications and experience assessed against the requirements in an assessment scheme approved by the Business Licensing Authority (BLA).
In preparation for the Act commencing on 1 July 2021, the BLA has commenced a process to approve assessment schemes. Any organisation can prepare an assessment scheme and apply to the BLA for approval of that scheme. Organisations that administer assessment schemes are known as assessment entities.
A register of approved assessment schemes and assessment entities will be published on our website in 2021.
More information for organisations wishing to apply to the BLA for approval of an assessment scheme is available on Apply to administer an assessment scheme.
The second step in applying for registration is to lodge an application with the BLA via myCAV from 1 July. Your application must include a copy of the report from the assessment entity that assessed your qualifications and experience.
