Fees for browsing or trying things on - 'showrooming'

Skip listen and sharing tools

Stores may charge a fee for browsing, or trying on, products available for sale - provided the consumer is:

  • advised of the fee beforehand
  • told how it will be calculated
  • given any other relevant information.

If the fee applies even if the consumer decides to buy the product, the store should ensure this is reflected in the total advertised price for that product.
