The Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria, Nicole Rich, has issued a public warning notice about:

  • Shade Solutions Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 619 316 371)
  • Shade Solutions Australia (VIC) Pty Ltd (ACN 651 260 436)
  • Shade Solutions Australia (NSW) Pty Ltd (ACN 651 260 196)
  • (all referred to as Shade Solutions).

Shade Solutions supplies and installs outdoor motorised awnings, retractable roofs and blinds for residential and commercial properties

We have received more than 70 complaints about Shade Solutions, whose business is based in Dandenong South.

We allege that Shade Solutions’ conduct may have contravened the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria) (ACL (Vic)).

Shade Solutions describes itself as having ‘years of experience and hundreds of installations under our belt’, with its website providing limited information on its products.

Consumers have complained that Shade Solutions accepted payment but failed to provide goods and services within agreed timeframes, within a reasonable time, or at all.

Ms Rich has warned people to be cautious and check the terms and conditions carefully before entering into an agreement with Shade Solutions.

Ms Rich also urges any current customers of Shade Solutions to be wary of making further payments until contracted works have been completed satisfactorily.

Ms Rich has issued the public warning notice using her powers under the ACL (Vic) and the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012, on the basis that there are ‘reasonable grounds’ to suspect that Shade Solutions’ conduct may constitute a contravention of the ACL (Vic) and that it is in the public interest to do so.

Consumers can contact Consumer Affairs Victoria if they need more information or assistance in relation to Shade Solutions.
