A final injunction has been issued against Anthony (Anton) Ray Stevens to restrain him from fundraising without a licence.

Consumer Affairs Victoria sought the injunction against Mr Stevens after he continued to conduct fundraising appeals from July 2009 for the Lions Club of Melbourne Markets and for the Preston Rotary Club, despite being told to stop fundraising and apply for a licence.

Mr Stevens only applied for a licence in June 2010 but continued to fundraise until an interim injunction was granted in September.

The Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria has subsequently refused his application to be registered as a fundraiser under the Fundraising Act 1998.

Melbourne Magistrate’s Court ordered Mr Stevens be restrained from fundraising activities unless registered as a fundraiser under the Act.

Mr Stevens was ordered to pay costs of $2500.
