Burlesque Interiors Pty Ltd (ACN 147 691 012), has been restrained until 1 January 2018 from taking deposits for the sale, supply, delivery or installation of any furniture or furniture fit outs, prior to the delivery or fit out.
Consumer Affairs Victoria commenced the action against the Moorabbin-based furniture company in the Melbourne Magistrates Court after an increase in contacts about the company failing to supply custom and pre-made furniture to its customers within agreed or otherwise reasonable timeframes.
Burlesque Interiors director Ms Olivia Eckford has been restrained from aiding or abetting the company from accepting money or consideration prior to the delivery or fit out of ordered furniture.
Ms Eckford has also been banned from managing a corporation until 20 December 2017 for contraventions of the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria).
The company must place a notice on its website advising that it has contravened the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria).
The court also ordered Burlesque Interiors and Ms Eckford to pay costs of $4388.50.
