Licensed motor car trader Cars National Pty Ltd must pay fines totalling $7500 after pleading guilty to 16 contraventions of the Motor Car Traders Act 1986.
At a Melbourne Magistrates’ Court hearing on 29 September 2014, the company admitted to allegations that it:
- disposed of a 2007 Ford Ranger and a 2008 Nissan Navara without having first cancelled security interests registered against those vehicles
- sold 11 motor cars using agreements that did not comply with prescribed particulars, terms and conditions
- failed to make entries in its dealings book at the time of the sale of three motor cars.
The court did not record a conviction and also ordered Cars National to pay $710.40 costs.
