A Mornington car dealer has been convicted and fined $3000 for misleading advertising of cars online and failing to identify a business as a licensed motor car trader in advertisements.
Kelly Falls Pty Ltd pleaded guilty in Dromana Magistrates Court to seven charges under the Motor Car Traders Act 1986, Fair Trading Act 1999 and Motor Car Traders Regulations 2008.
The company advertised 21 cars in the ‘Private Sale’ section of carsales.com.au between May and October last year.
Three of the ads had false and misleading information about the history of the cars, claiming they had just two previous owners when they had between four and seven.
Kelly Falls Pty Ltd was ordered to pay costs of $178.
