The acting Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria is warning people to be wary of buying from a baby products retailer, which has attracted a high number of contacts to the regulator in 2023.

Acting Director David Joyner has issued the public warning about GL4EVER Pty Ltd, trading as Baby Direct (ACN: 150 606 652), on the basis that it is in the public interest to do so.

Baby Direct is a Melbourne-based retailer selling baby products, including furniture, prams and toys, via, as well as physical stores.

Consumer Affairs Victoria has received a high number of contacts about the company, including allegations that Baby Direct:

  • advertised and sold goods that weren’t available
  • didn't provide goods within a reasonable time
  • didn't offer refunds when requested.

Given the number of contacts and the seriousness of the issues raised, Joyner urged consumers to be cautious when dealing with Baby Direct.

If you haven’t received items you purchased from Baby Direct, ask your bank or card provider for a chargeback, or raise a dispute with the online payment provider. Whether you can get your money back may depend on how and when you paid for the goods.

We encourage consumers to contact us if you need any information about or help with Baby Direct.
