A building cladding company and its director have been convicted and fined a total of $70,000, after pleading guilty to making false and misleading representations about the fire ratings of some of its products.

Consumer Affairs Victoria took action against Ezy Lite Pty Ltd (ACN: 155 899 915) and its director Adnan Dennaoui, 55, of Brunswick East, in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, where they pleaded guilty to eight charges under the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria) relating to certain boards and panels the company supplies.

The company made false and misleading representations, including on its website, about the fire resistance and/or fire ratings of its 8mm and 10mm EzyLite Board products, and its 24mm EzyLite Panel.

Ezy Lite and Mr Dennaoui must also pay total costs of more than $1,800.
