The Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria has issued a Public Warning Notice to consumers under section 223 of the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria) regarding Solar Orb Pty Ltd (ACN: 606 578 661) (Solar Orb) and the websites www.solarorb.com.au and www.solar-orb.com.

Solar Orb claims to supply and install solar panels (and other related products), and appears to have traded online via the websites www.solarorb.com.au and www.solar-orb.com.

Since 11 October, 2017, Consumer Affairs Victoria has received 29 contacts from consumers alleging that Solar Orb:

  • accepted deposit payments for solar panel supply and installation
  • failed to supply or install the solar panels
  • failed to refund deposits to consumers following the non-supply and non-installation of the solar panels.

Our Director is concerned with the disproportionately high level of recent contacts and consumer detriment and is urging the public to be cautious about entering into any agreements with businesses that request deposits or up-front payment for the supply and installation of solar panels and other solar related products. If you are looking to buy solar products, view our Solar energy page.

Consumers who paid Solar Orb by credit card and have not received their solar panels should immediately contact their bank or credit card provider for a chargeback – time limits apply for making chargeback claims. For more information, view our Chargeback page.

On 2 November 2017, Solar Orb appointed a liquidator to wind up its affairs. Consumers who made an agreement with Solar Orb before 2 November 2017 and did not receive their goods should contact Condon Associates on (02) 9893 9499.
