Definition: From 1 March 2027, insulation must be installed to a minimum rating of R5.0 by a suitably qualified installer in all ceiling spaces or parts of ceiling spaces where no insulation is currently installed. More information about where to find a suitably qualified installer will be available before the standard commences in March 2027.
This requirement does not apply if there is existing ceiling insulation, even if it does not meet an R5.0 rating.
The standard also requires an electrical safety checklist to be completed and any electrical issues to be addressed by a licensed electrician within 30 days before the installation of insulation. If the insulation installation is done through the VEU program, the mandatory electrical safety checklist will be completed as part of the installation service.
