The Victorian Consumer Law Fund (VCLF) is a trust fund established under Section 134 of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic) and administered by Consumer Affairs Victoria.

The VCLF receives its funds through penalties for breaching the Act and can be used for:

  • the purposes of improving consumer wellbeing, consumer protection or fair trading; or
  • any other purpose consistent with the objectives of the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria).

The Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC) is funded by the VCLF. The CPRC places Victoria at the forefront of consumer research, working to improve access, fairness and protections for Victorian consumers by investigating areas such as:

  • changes in the housing market
  • dispute resolution
  • breaches of consumer law.
