New regulations are now in place requiring fuel retailers in Victoria to register and share their fuel price data with Service Victoria. This data is now published on Servo Saver, a new feature within the Service Victoria app.

Servo Saver compares fuel prices from more than 1,200 fuel retailers across the state. This helps Victorians make informed choices about where to refuel.
Fuel retailer obligations
The new regulations have been made under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012. They follow 6 months of public consultation with industry and the community.
The regulations mandate that all Victorian fuel retailers must provide timely pricing data. The pricing data is then published on Servo Saver within the Service Victoria app.
Under the regulations, penalties apply for failing to update price changes.
What you must do
There are 3 steps fuel retailers must complete to start reporting their fuel prices.
Step 1: Create a Service Victoria account and business profile
Fuel retailers must create a business profile on the Service Victoria website and provide information about their business as part of the onboarding process.
You can do this quickly and easily via the Service Victoria website.
See the guidance material to complete your business profile setup and submit the fuel application.
Step 2: Register your business and create listings for your locations
You must register all the locations you manage so you can get ready to report fuel prices.
Step 3: Report your prices manually (via web portal) or automatically (via API)
Once Service Victoria has activated your account and you have been notified that you are a confirmed fuel retailer, you must choose to report your prices via the web portal or API.
When you’ve completed this step, please email fuel.program@service.vic.gov.au to let them know or use Service Victoria’s contact us form.
What you need to know
    - You must update your prices within 30 minutes after they change. The prices you report must match those you charge customers.
- If a registered fuel type becomes temporarily unavailable, you must report it as soon as possible.
- You need to report separate prices for each service station you manage.
- You need to let our Service Victoria product team know about any changes to your registration information within 14 business days of the update. For example, new key contacts, service station locations or business names.
- Your existing obligation to display fuel prices on price boards at your service stations also still applies. This has not changed.
Failing to register with Service Victoria is now an offence, and penalties apply. Consumer Affairs Victoria will be monitoring the marketplace to ensure compliance.
Servo Saver also lets Victorians report fuel retailers who haven’t shared accurate fuel prices.
We know that most retailers want to do the right thing and will support you to understand and meet your new price reporting obligations. However, it’s essential that your business has processes in place to ensure accurate and consistent price reporting. If you don’t meet your obligations, we may take further compliance action.

How will smaller retailers be supported?

The Department of Government Services’ production team is providing technical support to all retailers and can help small retailers get started with their reporting obligations.
The intention is to ensure compliance requirements are clear and achievable for all businesses. Additionally, the regulations do not restrict third parties submitting pricing data on behalf of retailers – so smaller retailers can seek external support to meet reporting requirements.
