RTBA Online is a safe and secure system for undertaking bond transactions. With Electronic Transactions you can transfer bonds between tenants in a quick and convenient way. No more reworking paper forms or chasing tenants for signatures. Now, all your bond transactions can be managed in one place.
Visit rentalbonds.vic.gov.au and sign in.
You will need Level 2 or 3 access to transfer a tenant online. If you don’t have this, speak to your Level 3 Administrator. If you are unsure what access level you have, head to ‘Manage my registration’ and select ‘Update personal details’. Your access level will be listed at the top.
Select ‘Manage your bonds’.
Enter either your bond number or address details and tenant surname and select ‘Search for bond’.
Select ‘Transfer this bond’ then ‘Tenant’ as the transfer recipient, and ‘Electronic’ for the transaction method.
Select ‘Proceed to transfer details’. Enter the tenant transfer date. and select the departing tenants (if any). Then enter all new tenants by selecting ‘Add a new tenant’.
Select ‘Update tenant details’ and fill in the requested tenant details. All tenants must have a unique email address.
Select ‘Confirm details’. Ensure all details are correct and if changes are required, select ‘Back to tenant details’ to navigate to the appropriate page.
If all details are correct, select ‘Submit transfer’.
You will now see the Electronic Transaction confirmation page. Record the Electronic Transaction number, as this can be used to track your transaction.
So, what happens next?
All staying, leaving and new tenants will be sent a text (if a mobile number was provided) and an email, with a link to confirm the tenant transfer.
Once all tenants have confirmed, the transfer will be finalised and receipts will be sent to all parties.
If the tenants do not respond to the email within 7 days, all parties will receive a reminder.
If the tenants do not respond within 14 days, the transfer will be cancelled and all parties will be notified.
If a tenant requests changes to the transfer, you will be notified via email.
To manage pending transfers, select ‘Manage your Electronic Transactions’.
