New rules are coming for estate agents and agents’ representatives. These updates will improve professional standards across the industry. Some changes start sooner than others. What you need to do depends on whether you’re an estate agent or an agent’s representative.
The biggest changes are:
- Agents’ representatives: You must hold a direct individual registration from 25 November 2026. Existing agents' representatives will automatically be registered if they appear on the BLA Register on 24 November 2026. Create a myCAV account before this date so that the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) can contact you and you can manage your registration obligations.
- Agents’ representatives and licensed estate agents: You must complete a minimum of 5 continuing professional development (CPD) activities each year to maintain your licence or registration.
The table below lists the main changes. We will share more details for each requirement as the start date gets closer.
