Skip listen and sharing tools

Licensed motor car traders and their employees must meet the standards of conduct set out in Part 4 of the Motor Cars Traders Regulations 2008, in their day-to-day dealings with consumers.

The regulations impose obligations about:

  • notifying the Business Licensing Authority of any key change to the trading details of the motor car trading business, as described on our Update details – motor car traders page
  • supervising and controlling every employee involved in motor car trading
  • advertising businesses or cars for sale
  • handling and returning consumers' deposits.

These obligations are in addition to those set out under related legislation.
